Groups are shared spaces where members collaborate through arkboards, discussions, and shared resources. Arkscape has two types of groups: Internal and External. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right type for your team's needs.
Internal Groups
Internal groups are restricted to your organization's members. They are designed for teams, departments, and projects that should only be accessible within your organization.
- Only organization members can discover and join internal groups
- Organized by departments (e.g., Design, Engineering, Marketing)
- Only available to organization accounts — individual users do not have internal groups
- Org admins can always see all internal groups, including hidden ones
Who can create internal groups?
Organization Admins and Leads can create internal groups. Members cannot create groups but can join existing ones.
External Groups
External groups enable collaboration across organizations and with individual users. They are not restricted to a single organization's members, making them ideal for cross-org projects, client collaboration, and community groups.
- Open to users from any organization and individual users
- Organized by "By your organization" and "Outside organization"
- Available to both organization accounts and individual users
- Each external group is owned by the organization or individual that created it
Who can create external groups?
Organization Admins and Leads can create external groups. Individual users (without an organization) can always create external groups.
